Jill Haworth Dead at 65

Jill Haworth, Broadway's original Sally Bowles of Cabaret fame, has died at the age of 65 on January 3rd at her home in New York.  The New York Times reports that, according to the police, Haworth died of natural causes.  Cabaret was Haworth's last Broadway show.  Though she received rather poor reviews, she stayed in the role for almost two years.  Producer Hal Prince spoke well of her after her death, saying, "They underestimated her.  Sally Bowles was not supposed to be a professional singer.  She wasn't supposed to be so slick that you forgot she was an English girl somewhat off the rails in the Weimar era."  Joel Grey added that Haworth "had a wild abandon about herself and her life.  She was so Sally Bowles."
