Alice Brings Wonderland to Broadway

2010 seems to be the year of Alice in Wonderland.  A new musical version of the Lewis Carol novels will hit Broadway next spring, with previews set to begin March 21st and opening night set for April 27th.  The score will be by Broadway composer Frank Wildhorn, a book by Jack Murphy and Gregory Boyd, and the production will be directed by Boyd.  The show will play at one of the Nederlander theaters.

  1. Is the show going to be based completely on the book or will it also incorporate the recent movie as well?

  2. The new musical will, according to what I've seen, not be related to the recent film, or any of the other film adaptations of the Alice story. It looks as though the musical is even likely to be less related to the books then I had originally thought. According to one source I've read, the story involves "a new Alice who has lost the joy in her life. Estranged from her husband, alienated from her daughter and in danger of losing her career, Alice finds herself in Wonderland where she encounters strange though familiar characters that help her rediscover the wonder in her life while searching for her daughter."
